To encourage more users to give Netflix a whirl for the first time in Vietnam, the brand released a one-off product in the local market that offered a series of titles free of charge. By collaborating with a local talent agency in Vietnam to find the right face of this campaign, we discovered a famous rapper who’d just released a song about how things don’t fall out of the sky for free. And there we had our concept - it almost felt too easy. The catch? We could only shoot with Suboi the following week… in Paris… over a public holiday weekend… Cue stringent French employment laws (aka triple time), closed studios, no equipment rental… oh it was a hoot! But alas, we cobbled together an up-for-it crew from all corners of Paris, found a set via Airbnb, and upon discovering these genuine costumes in the French Netflix office, gave what was set to be a relatively product-focused script a nice creative twist. Fighting the urge to now write “voila”.
